KEY stands for Kiwanis Educates Youth. The Key Club Motto is "Caring - Our Way of Life"
Key club is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. It was in May, 1926 in Sacramento, California that the first Key Club officially met. The idea of a junior service club was introduced by two Sacramento Kiwanians who were high school administrators. Key Club is so successful because it is a student-led organization that teaches leadership through serving others. Key Club members build themselves as they build their schools and communities. There are approximately 5,000 Key Clubs with 233,000 members in 20 nations.
The Key Club Pledge I Pledge on my honor to uphold the objects of Key Club International, to build my home, school, and community, to serve my nation and God, and to combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.
