Benicia Mayor, Steve Messina speaking at our Jan. 24th meeting and reports that the state of the city is strong. Mayor Messina emphasized his commitment to children and meeting the needs of youth in our community. He also introduced the Benicia-Tula, Sister City Association and program. The purpose of which is to develop friends and meaningful exchanges that involve organizations in both cities to engage in continuing projects of mutual interest. Mayor Messina introduced Pepe Arteaga, a member of the association's Board of Directors who spoke to us about a special project underway that is focused on bringing about 20 kids from Tula, Mexico to Benicia this coming July.
